I survived my first week of work..! It wasn't that bad actually. I'm sure I had it better than my peers at other training centers. It was definitely sweet to end the week with dinner, courtesy of some generous drug company, at a place like this:

The Tower Club

You can't really tell from the picture but the panoramic city view was just awesome. Definitely comparable to Equinox, with much better food. It was Italy and UK feasting all over again, with my oysters, foie gras, tiramisu and cappucino. I was missing my bottle of Chianti wine though. Haha.. Next Friday's talk is gonna be at Four Seasons. If this goes on every week I'm gonna have a really hard time shedding any weight.

Ok maybe I should talk about something other than food. Today I must have suffered the worst insult relating to my standard of Mandarin. Not that I was offended, but it seems worthy of mention. One of my colleagues actually came up to me and asked if I understood Chinese(!), to which I replied 'of course' (in shock), and she said something like 'you don't look like you understand Chinese'. So I added 我是华人,当然会听中文. Which led another colleague to exclaim in utter surprise 她不但听得董,还会讲! Man. Is my Chinese really that bad???

Going to sleep now. Early and long day tomorrow. I'm off to catch the diva of my heart in action! =) Here's to a pleasant journey and awesome show.

THE NOBU EXPERIENCE

We were thinking of just ordering our own mains but the oh-so-friendly waitress highly recommended that we have a taste of the authentic Nobu experience, ie to order several dishes and share. So here goes..

Oysters for starters - Yummylicious, 10/10!

Tuna

My fave - Snow Crab with Fish Roe. 11/10!

Smoked Lamb with some spicy sauce

Wagyu Gyoza with Foie Gras

Beef Toban Yaki - Trust me the photo doesn't do it much justice. 10/10!

The killer Dragon Roll - special that wasn't on the menu. Nov gave it a 10/10.

Assorted Petit Fours - assortment of cakes

Nobu's signature dessert - Chocolate Bento

But wait. The Nobu experience still isn't quite complete after you're done eating. The real excitement comes when the waitress comes along with the bill - the one that every casual Nobu diner ought to keep for remembrance...

Now that I'm back and recharged I wish I was still on vacation. I can't believe work starts tomorrow..! Have no idea what to expect. Just hope that I survive and my preceptor's not as bad as I heard. (when I say bad, I probably actually mean overly hardworking)
