2 Peter 1:5-9
But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge,
to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness,
to godliness brother kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.
For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.
BS was good as usual. finally found one of the keys to living a godly life. all this while i've sought hard for those godly qualities but never did manage to see any of them developing in me simply because i forgot to constantly remind myself that i have been cleansed from my old sins. pastor struck the nail on the head when he spoke of people who think of the forgiveness of sins as the basics of christianity. truth be told, just a few days ago i asked God to open my eyes to new truths other than those i already know of - Jesus' one sacrifice for sins forever and our healing because of the stripes He bore at the cross. and God sure was faithful in answering my prayer and opening my eyes to a new truth today. He even humbled me and showed me how wrong i was to take for granted Jesus' one sacrifice for sins forever instead of feeding on it each day of my life.
today some of the pharm girls were discussing plans for a bbq after our exams and i was actually excited about it. guess i'm beginning to feel more comfortable with the pharm people now. they're very nice actually. all those whom i've mixed with so far i've found to be sincere and simple people. no havoc clubbing people that i know of so far. i guess that's good.
and i'm still thinking of rearing fish. novalia suggested kissing fish and my pharm friend kelvin tan suggested neon fish. still undecided though. it's not like i love fish or what (i do love to eat fish) but i really miss having a pet. now all i do when i'm bored is stare at my lava lamp, whereas before i could go pet or tickle my dog. but everything was left to my maid and i barely did anything for my dog. and i have this very bad feeling that i'll give up on my fish after a while and flush them down the toilet bowl or something. and that'll leave me feeling guilty for quite a while after that. but then again i look forward to naming my fish silver and my other favourite names...
to rear or not to rear?

haven't been blogging regularly of late. haven't been studying either. what on earth have i been doing?! eating, sleeping, more eating and sleeping. basically just slacking. been wanting to write more friendster testimonials but keep telling myself to study instead.. soon soon.. i'll try to wax lyrical on my friends soon... after my tests maybe..
well anyway, didn't touch my books last night 'cos i went for caregroup. 4-5 hours of my time gone just like that. but i felt obligated to go last night 'cos it was my leader's birthday. and he must have been quite touched 'cos we planned a surprise for him (i thought only youngsters bother to do that but i guess i was wrong). well anyway the plan was for 5-6 of us to tell him that we won't be turning up, another 4-5 people saying that they'll turn up late, leaving only about 10 or less people attending caregroup. and his wife was in it with us so she kept us posted on what time he'll arrive and all. so all of us hid upstairs, leaving the 2 hosts and 3-4 people at the 'battlefront' to entertain and distract him when he arrived. and while they were talking away and listening to our leader (john) lamenting about how the day's turn-up rate was gonna be poor, the host's pri-sch daughter, margaret (what a sad name for a youngster in this day and age *laughs*), turned off all the lights to mimic a black-out. that's when all of us walked down the spiral staircase singing happy birthday with a cake in hand. it must have been a very pretty sight. i think i would have been very touched if i were john. imagine all that effort coming from busy, working adults. everyone made it a point to assemble earlier to practise what to do. and it was quite funny 'cos as we were all discussing the plan for the night, joseph (i think he's about 40+) came to us hurriedly saying that he just received an sms from john saying that he'll be arriving quite late 'cos his company was celebrating his birthday. everyone in the house gasped in disappointment upon hearing that. all that effort gone down the drain just like that. but joseph just smiled cheekily and scooted off, assuring all of us that he was just kidding. it's pretty amazing how there really is a kid within each and everyone of us actually. or maybe i'm the one with the misconception that adults are all sober and solemn when they're actually no different from us.

well nothing interesting happened of late.. after 4 days of slacking i -have- to start studying for my upcoming tests..! anyway i watched good times, bed times on on thursday.. the movie was really bad. it wasn't funny at all like tiffany said! even though i watched it in cantonese.. (no tiffany don't attribute it to my poor grasp of cantonese.. (oh well i was only watching it for sammi cheng. maybe i should watch johnny english for some laughs instead.
shit i just saw many r-rated pop-ups. is it 'cos of blogger.com? better not. or i'll have to stop blogging to avoid all that unsightly trash. there was an article in the papers today about the rising trend of p**nographic vcds (i don't want my blog to be picked up by any search engine) starring the 'guy-in-the-street' selling like hot cakes. yeah anyway the most recent scandal is about this m'sian air steward's exploits with his girlfriends in places all over the world. what in the world is wrong with these people?!
ok i just typed an entire para about my train ride home with this classmate of mine on saturday but changed my mind after jasline reminded me how dangerous the net can be. so a verbatim recount is all you'll get. yeah anyway we did reproductive system for anatomy on saturday and during the train ride home, this classmate of mine asked me to explain how a female con**m works 'cos he didn't understand the prof's explanation in class. and i tried very hard to whisper to him but he just went on and on. and so i tried to end the discussion by saying 'anyway it's not very commonly used so i don't think we need to know too much' but that was a big mistake! 'cos it just led him to tell me about all the other common contraceptives and how they work. my gosh. i wanted to dig a hole or get off at the very next stop. ok that's about it.. i shan't say more.. 'the mouth of the righteous is a well of life". but the plus point is that guy's a believer..

You sheltered me from harm
Kept me warm, kept me warm
You gave my life to me
Set me free, set me free
The finest years I ever knew
were all the years I had with you
I would give anything I own
Give up my life, my heart, my home
I would give everything I own
Just to have you back again
You taught me how to love
What it's of, what it's of
You never said too much
But still you showed the way
And I knew from watching you
Nobody else could ever know
The part of me that can't let go
I would give anything I own
Give up me life, my heart, my home
I would give everything I own
Just to have you back again
Is there someone you know
You're loving them so
But taking them all for granted
You may lose them one day
Someone takes them away
And they don't hear the words you long to say
I would give anything I own
Give up me life, my heart, my home
I would give everything I own
Just to have you back again
Just to touch you once again

i succeeded in my revolt!! didn't do any work at all yesterday. slept at 11 and woke up at 1030. feels as if i'm having post-exam celebrations. to think they haven't even begun in the first place. ha. spent the entire night watching tv back-to-back. caught a bit of royal tenenbaums which really sucked. still remember being totally bored and irritated in the PS theatre then. but it does leave you feeling sad, when you realise that there may actually be such dysfunctional and screwed up families out there. oh and i watched bachelor 3 too, after laying off it for quite some time. think the quality of bachelor is degenerating now. i shudder at the thought of him marrying any of those ladies left.
the feeling of triumph this morning stems from learning that a screwed-up person is giving up smoking! or rather, thinking of giving up. (pretty sure that she'll go back to her life of decadence sooner than you can imagine.) kinda feel like a counsellor, rejoicing over a reformative delinquent. but then again, her blog has provided me with much entertainment for some time now...
ok i'm off to plan a bit of my study schedule. at least i'll feel better knowing that i've done something work-related today.
But I'm not crazy I'm just a little unwell
I know right now you can't tell
But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see
A different side of me
I'm not crazy I'm just a little impaired
I know right now you don't care
But soon enough you're gonna think of me
And how I used to be me

was so looking forward to today but now that it's here i'm feeling kinda bored. physio's finally over and my next test's more than a week away and it's deepavali tomorrow! no studying, no BS, whole family's gonna be out, i'm having dinner alone tonight! guess i'll somewhat have a taste of novalia's and tiffany's life. maybe i should like start on my tutorial to keep myself busy. can't believe i spent the last hour plus exploring friendster.. everyone's on it! all our senior softball guys are on now! edward looks weird in his picture, chuan yao looks like shawn yue, huan xi didn't put his picture.
thought of something funny that my lecturer said yesterday. he was telling us about how the people behind popeye have been duping us for decades. 'cos spinach supposedly contains a very high level of oxalic acid, which is an anti-metabolite, which means it binds very well to metal ions like iron, hence reducing their absorption in the gut. and this means that all that spinach consumption can't possibly give rise to muscle development. haha ok i know it's wuliao. but just a food for thought. the knowledge of science does kill some of our childhood fantasies and beliefs doesn't it?
physio was rather horrid today. felt very much like an RJ bio paper or something. the mcqs were quite a killer! had to like read every single option before going 'HUH?' and then try to guess. when we were handing up our papers i saw different patterns of shaded-boxes on practically every answer script. how demoralising. hope i don't do too badly. can't afford to since i didn't do all that well, or rather, as superbly as most, for the last test.
maybe physio's the reason why i'm feeling sian and out of sorts today. skipped lunch but i don't feel hungry. did have a few white chocolate strawberry-flavoured sticks that my brother brought back from aust though. they taste damn good. it's my new snack of the season. must get people to buy back from aust. oh i bought my bro's bday present and i'm glad he likes it. bought him a raspberry coloured striped shirt from topman that costs 53 bucks! scouted around the whole of city link and suntec and couldn't find anything similar but cheaper so i had no choice. but it's pretty cool actually. my heart may melt if i see a guy i like wearing it. haha..
pretty amazing that i can rattle on and on. my entries seem relatively long compared to others. shan't bore you further. off to read the book i just bought - catch22. it's been so very super long since i last read a book. hope the raving reviews don't fail me.

The Lord's my shepherd; I'll not want
He makes me down to lie
In pastures green; He leadeth me
The quiet waters by
My soul He doth restore again
And me to walk doth make
Within the paths of righteousness
E'en for His own name's sake
Yea tho' I walk through death's dark vale
Yet will I fear no ill
For Thou art with me, and Thy rod
And staff me comfort still
My table Thou hast furnished
In presence of my foes
My head Thou dost with oil anoint
And my cup overflows
Goodness and mercy all my life
Shall surely follow me
And in God's house forevermore
My dwelling place shall be
been a real slack day for me. had no school today which meant lots of time to study for the upcoming tests but no, i woke up close to 11! and i've done minimal work thus far. only read 1 chpt of physio. oh well. at least i didn't succumb to napping as usual. that's an improvement already.
really nice song there. listening to it over and over again. it gives me a sense of peace and comfort, especially the part in bold. =) well, thought i oughta give credit to jasline for yesterday, since she insisted. thanks to her, i got a nice seat at church and happened to be at the right place at the right time when the right person sort of galloped past the right aisle. so here it is: THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! but like i said, you still owe me many more favours for all the times that you've been late, among many other things, like spoiling my reputation by telling wee nii (and goodness knows who else) about the library incident that you totally distorted. i still have a good mind to spread stories about you and clement. *evil laugh*
and i got to eat my favourite chocolate banana cake at secret recipe (though it sure wiped my wallet dry)! for some peculiar reason, i think it tasted the best during the softball days. this reminds of that time when poor novalia had to walk to secret recipe from ghim moh under the hot sun to collect the cake. i'm so sorry for that my dear friend. i really didn't mean to bully you..
i was slacking at 6:20 PM
had everything that i wanted to say so clearly in my head but now that i'm finally starting to blog my mind's a blank. sheesh. glad to know that novalia's happy now. doesn't help that i'm not happy and tiffany's not happy too (+ the many other people i know of who are not happy). makes you wonder what's the world coming to. no i'm not depressed or anything 'cos i have the Lord. but it's just a thought.
it's amazing how many complaints one can hear in a short span of ?45 minutes. it's the spirit of complaining i tell you. trying to recall if it's been happening all along or if it was brought to my attention only 'cos michele has been telling me about how she always prays for God to grant her protection from her colleagues who only seem to have negative comments and thoughts. so in a short span of time i heard about how some country is plain stupid to waste all that money just to send someone to space for a few hours when other pioneers have already orbitted in space for days, how it makes no absolute sense for people to have stag/hen parties, wasting all that money hiring a stripper/hooker when no one's gonna use the services, how it's preposterous for a lavalamp to cost so much when it's just a silly plain piece of metal and some fluid in a glass with a bulb, how everything in sg is just exorbitant, period. how a friend's lip job was really badly done. and then i rushed to my sanctuary shortly after. peace, and tranquility.
looking forward to church tomorrow morning. sometimes i wish life was only about God, church (+ some of its people), myself, and a few friends. so maybe i should go full-time next time. but then again, i figured a while ago that i can't be a church counsellor 'cos all the negative stuff that people say does get to me sometimes. not that it causes my faith to waver. but it makes me disappointed, maybe even disturbed, with people, or rather, Man's flesh. just yesterday i realised that one of the greatest revelations that set me free was that when things go wrong, there's never anything wrong with God's side. instead of reproaching God for unanswered prayers or things gone wrong, we ought to question what went wrong on our side of the equation. as pastor said, when you experience a power failure at home, the first thing you do is to check if there was a trip or if there's anything wrong on your side. you don't just pick up the phone to call up the power station and rant and rave at them. not exactly a fantastic analogy i must say, but it's stuck forever. the point being, go to God in prayer and ask Him to show you what went wrong on your part, not His, the next time something goes wrong.
i always say that there are no good men out there. but i also realise that men can be darlings sometimes when they so graciously agree to do favours for you. looking forward to my 'yu jian' midi that my friend's gonna create for me to use as my ringtone! hope it turns out nice. =)

Hide me now
Under your wings
Cover me
within your mighty hand
When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with you above the storm
Father you are King over the flood
I will be still and know you are God
Find rest my soul
In Christ alone
Know his power
In quietness and trust
i thank my God that i'm gradually seeing more and more of His goodness and mercy and grace in my life and feeling more and more of His love for me these days. He is all i have and all i need in my life.

just got back from caregroup. it wasn't too bad. the testimonies were encouraging. but i didn't fellowship much 'cos the people there are mostly a generation above me. it's like they were passing around a particulars form for us to fill and some people flipped when they realised that someone in the group's born in 1984. spent most of my time talking (or listening, rather) to michele. and our mothers were saying that we can get along so well 'cos we both need a sister in our lives! so yay.. i found a da jie of some sort. =) have -always- wanted a da jie to confide in and chat with about anything under the sun. but of course the criteria is i have to be able to look up to her (ie i have no desire whatsoever to be in davin sidik's or hong lixia's shoes. haha) and i definitely see that in michele. i want to have her kinda faith, for now. and hopefully i'll grow in faith each day until i finally have the faith of..... this other woman of great faith. ha..
oh i got pretty upset over dinner before caregroup when i found out that my brother bought 2 lavalamps from aust (1 for his gf and 1 for himself) and he forgot all about me! i've been wanting a lava lamp since like sec2?! and then my dad said can't blame him 'cos nobody in the family even knows i want a lava lamp. well, i'm not sure if i ever told anyone in the family that i wanted a lava lamp (i'm pretty sure i must have mentioned it somehow, sometime) but then it just led me to think that my family really knows very little about my thoughts, feelings and opinions. like do they know that i want a vcam? do they know my reason for not wanting to or thinking of driving?? but i guess the fault lies not in them, but me. as in, i'm the one who's not telling them, not that they won't listen. or rather, i'm the one who just has the impression that it won't make a difference whether i tell them or not. oh well. i rather not dwell on these things. but back to the lavalamp. thank goodness he didn't get the orange one that i've been thinking of getting. must try to get someone to buy from aust for me. 25bucks only! but i'm pissed with my brother over it so i refuse to take up his offer to ask his friend over there to buy for me. and my whole family has labelled me xiao qi now. oh well.
shan't make this entry too long. i usually give up reading my friend's entry when it's too lengthy. watched the classic today. it was pretty good. but i didn't cry. it was sad though. the part about him leaving his umbrella behind to get drenched in the rain with her was sweet! the realisation of it all left a tingling sweet feeling in me. the rest was pretty cliche. all that catching fireflies and piggyback-ing is how old-fashioned! and anyway how to cry when they insert stupid and wuliao parts like the tall guy fainting and the checking of manure!? haha call it bad taste but i think that modern guy's cute! i mean, he's tall, nice build, nice smile.. and he reminds me of garrett hoo! but novalia totally disagrees...
oh i better go off and try to complete some more of my lab reports that are due this week. real tedious man. took 1hr+ on 1 particular report and i'm only halfway through. i hate phase diagrams! shall continue listening to my forbidden city soundtrack over and over again (it's like watching the musical over and over again!) while i complete my reports.. oh michele's bf was real nice. wanted to borrow his cd but he burnt for me, together with labels and all. but too bad got no songlist and lyrics.
i was slacking at 12:29 AM
church was good today. many souls were saved during 2nd service (>10?). and there were many pleasant surprises today. =) received a really cute and nice white lamb soft toy that says 'I am JESUS' lamb' and michele gave me a pack of navigators with daily scriptures to meditate on. and it all came for free! so blessed!! the lamb's sitting nicely on my bed now, together with my other dozens of soft toys... will try to make it a point to meditate on those verses... got 3 packs waiting for me in all 'cos my dad bought me 2 previously. and of course there were some other events worth rejoicing over... but like i said, the internet's not as safe as i think. haha..
volunteered to usher for recording of church's christmas show at mediacorp on 27 Nov. i know it's amidst my exams but i just have to go!! dn matthew made it sound so good i wanted to go the moment i heard about it. figured i'll be at home wondering how the recording's going and not be able to concentrate on studying if i didn't go anyway. trusting in the Lord to plant the desire and motivation to start my revision earlier or study harder during study break. maybe i should just learn from mugger jasline and start like ~NOW~.
there's really nothing much to say. just don't feel like studying so i'm here listening to music. stupid tiffany enjoying her fall break now and the only break we have here is deepavali. and that's only like 1 pathetic day.. tiffany has 4 days at least! low morale low morale. looking forward to deepavali to recharge myself man. my tests would have been mostly over by then..
officially 1/2way through for my revision.. and i have about 1 more day to study only... sigh..

All that is within me Lord will bless Your holy name
I live my life to worship You alone
You brought me out of darkness and into Your glorious light
Forever I will sing of Your great love
Forever I will sing of Your great love
I love to see You glorified, to see You lifted high
I yearn to see all nations bow their knees
It's You alone Lord Jesus who can cause the coldest heart
To find Your love and everlasting peace
To find Your love and everlasting peace
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord
And the trumpet will sound
And all of heaven will know
That the time has finally come
For the bride to take her place
And we'll hear the angels sing

my eyelids are almost closing on me but i -have- to study a bit for my test on tues before i sleep! a lot of people said they haven't started studying for the test too but i don't believe them. but then again, they probably don't believe me either. but sad to say, it's true. i haven't checked a single chapter off my study schedule this entire week. stressing me out man. and it must show on my face, since weyling's been telling me to take it easy nowadays.
had quite a bit of fun during my break today. i embarked on building a sims house for the first time!! quite bad to like hog amanda's notebook but it's real addictive. only did the overall structure and flooring and windows and i'm already looking forward to continuing my building. haha i sound childish and nerdy. but it's really fun lor. it's definitely more fun than controlling the sims people. what's more she downloaded a lot of extras from the net so she has a super wide range of cool stuff to choose from. figured i could start living my fantasy a little.. having a house with THREE wings haha... but i had this stupid idea to bully those stupid sims so i connected the wings together with a pool, which means they practically have to swim to move around the house. very tempted to go buy the deluxe set for myself. but it's kinda stupid to like pay 100bucks to get yourself addicted and destroy your academic life as a result.
ooh God was good again! i got 89% for anatomy! but there was this freak who got 100, and another who got 99. there were like 12 in all who got >90! pharmacy people are scary i tell you. but like i said, i'm happy just to be in the top half, or third when i study seriously. that's already a great leap from my pathetic jc days. novalia you better take heed: slacker candice is starting to study a bit so you better do the same.. haha. but i'm not too sure about the upcoming test though. . . lots to study but i haven't started.. it's so cheem i don't feel like starting.

just a short entry on wu jian dao II before i go off to try study. i'm an entire day behind for my study schedule but still don't feel like studying. last night i slept at 11.30pm simply 'cos i didn't wanna study. ended up awaking at 9.30am but went back to sleep at 10.30am or so after breakfast. and then hurriedly awoke again at 11.30am to rush to school. what's happening to me?? maybe it's the nice cool rainy weather.
i can't really remember much of wu jian dao II anymore. just know that i didn't enjoy it as much as the first installment. but i think this one definitely invoked more emotions in me - it's hard not to feel something when they have countless killings throughout the entire show. having them kill without any qualms portrays life to be so worthless. the show's all about trust and betrayal. one really ought not to put his trust in Man.
oh i remember one scene that was really sad. anthony wong's car went up in flames the moment his buddy stepped into it and all he could do was watch helplessly and wail, knowing that his buddy died in his place. haha think i shouldn't divulge too much or it'll be such a spoiler for those who can only watch it in a few months' time. HAHAHA.
edison chen's nothing great la. still don't fancy him. he only looks good from certain angles. think the veterans stole the show. the two young punks were no match for them. oh one other thing.. think it would be better to watch the part I before watching part II. this way you'll have a clearer idea of what's going on and have a better time piecing the entire story together.

You'll never let me go
Though it all
Hallelujah. . .

listening to this song over and over again for tonight.. i love the last line. it keeps bringing the picture of Jesus with a meek and weak sheep on His strong shoulder to my mind.
p/s: the picture of the sunset on tiffany's blog is damn nice! how i wish we had such sights here in singapore.

feeling very awake now 'cos i took a nap in the afternoon. been studying at super snail pace.. kept taking breaks to read the bible, cleo, surf the net and listen to music. hopefully the adrenalin rush will come tomorrow and i can finish the remaining 60% or so.. talking about cleo.. tore out a page to send to novalia... she's gonna be happy when she sees it (i hope). unless she's found another eye-candy. . . garrett hoo's pretty artistic.. more brownie points for him.. ha..
been wanting to write about the powerful sermon on thursday... now that a few days have passed i can only remember it vaguely. anyway, pastor was talking about the jewish new year, Rosh Hashana, which fell on the previous friday. i think it's the season for repentance and a new beginning for the jews. the highlight to me was about the blowing of the shofar (ram's horn used as a trumpet). on this festive day, 3 different sounds are blown in succession:
1. Tekiah - 1 long straight blast
2. Shevarim - 3 medium, wailing sounds
3. Teruah - 9 quick blasts in short successions
here's the essense: the tekiah represents God the Father, the shevarim, Jesus the Son and the teruah, the Holy Spirit. the 3 wailing sounds serve to remind us of the suffering of Jesus' spirit, soul and body at Calvary. further, it being blown using a SILVER (redemption) trumpet (the shofar's used for the other 2 sounds) speaks of Jesus' perfect redemptive work for us. as for the teruah, it symbolises the 9 gifts of the Spirit and 9 fruits of the Spirit.
this wasn't the main theme of the sermon but i just had to take it down. i love such nuggets from God. hidden symbolisms in the bible and jewish customs like the above make you realise how amazing God is.
it's past 2am already and i'm still not sleepy! anatomy CA wasn't too bad.. left 4 blanks out of 75 questions.. and spotted 1 mistake so far.. which means 6 marks gone. i just hate it when they deduct marks for wrong answers. a friend of mine left 10 blanks, which left me feeling better about my 4 blanks. just hope i didn't make any other mistakes. guessed quite a bit 'cos i got desperate. they were intelligent guesses (i hope) though.
think i better go force myself to sleep otherwise i'll be dozing off during church tomorrow and too tired to study. can't wait for tuesday.. gonna watch wu jian dao! don't fancy any of the actors but just watching to irritate novalia and tiffany. haha just kidding. i'm expecting it to be as good as the 1st installment.

Longer than there've been fishes in the ocean
Higher than any bird ever flew
Longer than there've been stars up in the heavens
I've been in love with you
Stronger than any mountain cathedral
Truer than any tree ever grew
Deeper than any forest primeval
I am in love with you
I'll bring fires in the winters
You'll send showers in the springs
We'll fly through the falls and summers
With love on our wings
Through the years as the fire starts to mellow
Burning lines in the book of our lives
Though the binding cracks and the pages start to yellow
I'll be in love with you
Longer than there've been fishes in the ocean
Higher than any bird ever flew
Longer than there've been stars up in the heavens
I've been in love with you
I am in love with you
